Taaibosch Puts Energy Cluster in the Northern Cape – Environmental Authorisations Granted & Refused

Environmental Authorisations granted and refused
Jones & Wagener (Pty) Ltd Engineering and Environmental Consultants (J&W) would like to notify all registered Interested and Affected Parties (I&APs) of the status of the Environmental Authorisations received from the Department of Forestry, Fishery and Environment (DFFE) for the Taaibosch Puts Energy Cluster projects in the Northern Cape. The DFFE is the competent authority for the applications for the proposed wind and solar energy facilities.
The applicant was granted Environmental Authorisation (EA) for the following projects which form part of the Taaibosch Puts Energy Cluster in the Northern Cape:
- Koraqua IV PV Energy Facility (Reference number: 14/12/16/3/3/2/2371)
- Gorachouqua I Wind Energy Facility (Reference number: 14/12/16/3/3/2/2372)
- Gorachouqua II Wind Energy Facility (Reference number: 14/12/16/3/3/2/2373)
- Khoemana Wind Energy Facility (Reference number: 14/12/16/3/3/2/2374)
The applicant was refused Environmental Authorisation (EA) for the following projects which form part of the Taaibosch Puts Energy Cluster in the Northern Cape:
- Kora I PV Energy Facility (Reference number: 14/12/16/3/3/2/2363)
- Kora II PV Energy Facility (Reference number: 14/12/16/3/3/2/2364)
- Kora III PV Energy Facility (Reference number: 14/12/16/3/3/2/2365)
- Kora IV PV Energy Facility (Reference number: 14/12/16/3/3/2/2366)
- Koraqua I PV Energy Facility (Reference number: 14/12/16/3/3/2/2367)
- Koraqua II PV Energy Facility (Reference number: 14/12/16/3/3/2/2368)
- Koraqua III PV Energy Facility (Reference number: 14/12/16/3/3/2/2369)
- Koraqua V PV Energy Facility (Reference number: 14/12/16/3/3/2/2370)
The applicant hereby notifies all registered I&APs of the decisions as instructed by the DFFE on 3 May 2024. The decision for each project is attached below, please refer to the reference numbers provided above to review the reasons for the respective decisions.
J&W would hereby like to draw your attention to the EIA Regulations, 2014 (attached below), which prescribes the appeal procedure to be followed.
Should any person wish to appeal any aspect of the decision on the wind and solar energy facilities, an appeal must be submitted to the Director: Appeals and Legal Review of the DFFE, and a copy of the appeal to the applicant within 20 days of the date that this notification of the decision was sent to registered I&APs.
