Environmental Authorisation application process for the proposed Gecko Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Facility near Hotazel in the Northern Cape Province

Environmental Authorisation Granted
Environmental Authorisation (EA) was granted for the development of the Gecko Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Facility near Hotazel in the Northern Cape Province. The development is proposed on Portion 1 of Farm 317 and the Remainder Extent of Farm 315, Joe Morolong Local Municipality of the John Taolo Gaetsewe District Municipality.
The EA (please download from link below) was granted to K2022578645 (South Africa) (Pty) Ltd by the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) on 23 August 2024, in terms of the National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (Act No.107 of 1998) as amended and the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulations – GNR 982 to GNR 985 of 4 December 2014, as amended. The decision was received on 26 August 2024.
Should any party wish to appeal any aspect of the decision, an appeal must be submitted to the appeal administrator, and a copy of the appeal to the applicant within 20 days of the date the EA was sent to Interested and Affected Parties.
