The South African Professional Services Awards are held annually to recognize and honour South Africa’s best professionals from various organizations representing various industries. This year’s awards ceremony was held on the evening of 1 February 2018 at the Montecasino Ball Room and sponsored by Sanlam.

Congratulations to Dr Peter Day for the Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Engineering for the South African Professional Services Awards (SAPS), sponsored by Sanlam Life Insurance Limited. Choice Judges comment: “Dr. Peter Day is a worthy recipient of this award having dedicated decades of his life to the engineering profession. It is noteworthy that he has taken the time to add to the body of knowledge in his field by completing a doctorate and has a service record within key professional bodies within the built environment …”

Congratulations also to Ms Jabulile Msiza who was selected as one of three finalists for the Built Environment Young Professional of the Year.

Choice Judges comment: “Jabulile caught the attention of the nominations panel having won the CESA Young Engineer of the Year award this year. Other than her technical expertise, two things are particularly impressive about her; she is taking an active role in a bursary programme thus contributing to the advancement of other young aspiring engineers and she is expanding her knowledge by pursuing an MBA. She is a fitting recipient and an example to other aspiring professionals particularly those from a previously disadvantaged background …”.
