We are pleased to announce the promotion of John Glendinning to the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Jones & Wagener Engineering and Environmental Consultants. Congratulations, John, on this well-deserved advancement!

John is an accomplished environmental scientist with extensive expertise in environmental geochemistry, hydrogeology, and contaminated land assessments. With over two decades of experience, he has been instrumental in shaping the firm’s approach to environmental management and sustainable engineering solutions.

John specialises in contaminated land assessments across various industries, including mining, petrochemical, heavy industrial, radioactive, and waste disposal sites. His work encompasses soil, surface water, and groundwater contamination assessments, as well as the development and implementation of remediation / mitigation strategies. He is also actively involved in geochemical and hydrogeological investigations for both brownfield and greenfield mining projects.

John leads Jones & Wagener’s Environmental Sciences department and has been sought in expert witness roles for legal cases related to environmental contamination.

John holds a BSc Honours in Geology from Rhodes University and an MSc in Environmental Geochemistry from the University of Cape Town. He is a registered Professional Natural Scientist (Pr.Sci.Nat.) and an active member of SACNASP, SAIEG, and IWMSA. He is also a Fellow of the Geological Society of London (FGS) and a Chartered Geologist (C.Geol.) in the UK. Throughout his career, John has contributed to industry best practices and the advancement of environmental science in South Africa.
