Jabulile Msiza wins the CESA Young Engineer of the Year Award!
04/10/2017
Heartfelt congratulations to Jabulile Msiza for winning the CESA Young Engineer of the Year Award! We’re very proud of you!
Jabulile has been with Jones & Wagener for 11 years since qualifying as a civil engineer from the University of Pretoria. She continued her training part time to obtain two Bachelor of Engineers Honours degrees in Geotechnical and Environmental Engineering. She has become a vital part of our Waste Department where she is currently a Technical Director, as well as our management team where she currently serves on the Management Committee. As her management role increased, this sparked an interest in Jabulile to further gain business management training and so enrolled for an MBA through the Henley Business School. She is expecting that degree at the end of 2017.
In her technical role as a professional engineer, Jabulile is a project manager on certain projects and responsible for the management of the design/construction team involved in the compilation of job deliverables. Her specialty lies in the design and construction of waste management facilities and has over the years built up a name for herself in the industry both through her professional work and involvement in many professional bodies.
Jabulile is passionate about people and as such, she is responsible for the HR Human Resources portfolio and maintains various HR policies and procedures and formulates new policies that become necessary as the company grows.
Her work as the Jones & Wagener Bursary Scheme Administrator involves the shortlisting of applicants, based on the company’s requirements at the time, for further interviews by a wider panel as well as the management of current bursary students in terms of ensuring payment of fees, academic performance and workplace training. This is particularly close to Jabulile’s heart as she was one of Jones & Wagener first bursary students and hence intimately understands the benefits of such a scheme. She also coordinates the postgraduate training for employees as well as general continual professional development training.
Jabulile serves on the Jones & Wagener Employment Equity (EE) Committee as the chairperson and management representative. The aim of the Committee is to provide a platform where issues and concerns related to employment equity and skills development can be raised for consideration by management, thereby facilitating the achievement of the aims of the EE Act.
We congratulate Jabulile on this award; she is a very deserving and well-rounded engineer of Jones & Wagener.
