Our Projects

Between 1994 and 1997 Jones & Wagener was involved in geotechnical and structural aspects relating to the construction of the Iscor Saldanha steel works.
Following a flooding experience at De Beers’ Venetia Mine, Jones & Wagener was appointed to develop a Surface Water Risk Management Plan for the mine in line with Anglo American’s Surface Flood Risk Standard.
The first project that Jones & Wagener undertook for a mining house was for Anglo American at the Vaal Reefs Goldmine in 1975.
In 1990 Sasol Mining appointed Jones & Wagener to design a water management system for Sasol’s first opencast mine: Syferfontein Colliery.
Jones & Wagener was involved in the precise monitoring of the construction of the elevated east-west motorway around Johannesburg, and the bridges to the south. These structures were built over undermined ground.
Jones & Wagener was appointed to investigate the cause of the Merriespruit Slimes Dam disaster by the contractors who had constructed the slimes dam.
In 1983 Jones & Wagener was appointed by Eskom to carry out the geotechnical investigation for the Majuba Power Station, which was the first major project that Jones & Wagener undertook for Eskom.
One of the largest environmental investigations by Jones & Wagener to date was undertaken for the KiPower Independent Power Producing plant.
In 1971 Jones & Wagener was awarded the industrial structural civil engineering and geotechnical contract for the design of the greenfields steelworks in Newcastle, arguably the most prestigious construction job in the country at the time.
Jones & Wagener have been involved in geotechnical, stormwater management and hazardous waste lagoon designs at this site for EnviroServ Waste Management since 1997.
Jones & Wagener was appointed to design, obtain regulatory approvals, and manage the construction of the infrastructure required for mining operations in the new Klipfontein Section of Middelburg Mine.
Jones & Wagener has been involved in the design of lateral support in surface excavations for almost four decades.
The design of temporary works, be it for clients or, more particularly for contractors, has been and still is a very big component of the work undertaken by Jones & Wagener.
Much of Jones & Wageners work has been connected to construction work that has had to be done over undermined ground.
