Environmental Authorisation for the Proposed Matla-Glockner Loop-In and Loop-Out 400 kV Transmission lines to connect the KiPower Independent Power Producer (IPP) Power Plant to the National Grid, Mpumalanga Province

Jones & Wagener (Pty) Ltd Engineering and Environmental Consultants (J&W) would like to inform you that KiPower (Pty) Ltd has been granted an Environmental Authorisation (EA) for the proposed construction of two loop-in and loop-out 400 kV power lines to connect the approved KiPower Independent Power Producer (IPP) Power Plant to the Eskom grid. The proposed 400 kV power lines are intended to be constructed between the KiPower IPP Power Plant, south-east of Delmas, and a connection point on the Matla-Glockner 400 kV power line, approximately 12 km south-east of the N17 national road

The EA was granted by the Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA) on 18 November 2016, in terms of the National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (Act 107 of 1998) as amended and the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulations, 2014.

As required, all registered Interested and Affected Parties (I&APs) must be notified of the decision within 14 days of the date of the EA being received. As per the EA, we would like to draw your attention to Chapter 2 of Government Notice Regulation 993 (National Appeal Regulations, 2014) which prescribe the appeal procedure to be followed

An appellant must submit an appeal to the appeal administrator, and a copy of the appeal to the applicant, any registered I&AP and any organ of state with interest in the matter within 20 days from the date that the notification of the decision for an application for an environmental authorisation was sent to the registered I&APs by the applicant.
