As part of the ongoing process to fill to final landform on the Shongweni Valley 1 Landfill, liner extensions were undertaken in 2006. The liner extensions were completed on both existing waste, piggyback principle, and insitu soil profiles. Due to the steepness of the new lined slopes liner protection and leachate drainage layers will be placed incrementally as part of the site operations.
